Barely a day goes by without another malware related story hitting the news.
Just this week, we have seen YiSpecter iOS malware attacking both jailbroken and non-jailbroken iOS devices, abusing private APIs in the iOS system implementing malicious functionalities.
WiFatch (which we mentioned earlier this week) is infecting routers, connecting them to peer-to-peer networks of other infected routers, for the purpose of further securing the router from other threats. Call it vigilante security. We call it malware either way.
Two games in Google Play, Brain Test and RetroTetris, are rooting Android devices. It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.
And finally this week, a second helping of Stagefright, malware processing specially crafted MP3 or MP4 files, leading to arbitrary code execution.
